With a large amount of change coming up, I find myself frequently worrying about all the things that I still have to do and that I will face in the next few weeks and months. As I was at prayer meeting tonight, listening to one of the people there pray, I thought of how much worry there was in her prayer. And in that moment two things came to mind. The first was Bill Gothard’s definition of worry: “Worry is taking responsibility for something that God never intended you to take responsibility for.” And the second was the words that Jesus Christ Himself said: “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.” (Mt. 6:34 — NET) I believe that this is the point that God wants to impress upon me right now.
“Don’t worry about it, just take it one step at a time. You know the goal you’re heading towards. Start in that direction and simply take the next step you see in front of you. I’ll take care of the rest.”
