Lately I’ve been reading Oswald Chambers’ My Utmost for His Highest. In it he remarks that we are not made for living on the mountaintops of spiritual experience, but for living in the valleys, where it’s tough to stand up for what we have learned on during our highs. Sometimes I find myself resenting that truth, but I guess if we can’t do what God wants us to when things are tough, then we really aren’t doing them for Him when things are easy. We’re doing them for ourselves and the cool feeling we get when we’re high on Jesus.
